TRANSPORTATION
Public transportation (airport bus service or train)
This is the cheapest and safest way of transportation. For more information, please, check for bus here or for train service here.
TAXI
To go downtown, you may also consider taking a taxi. The official taxi company at the GRU Airport is “Guarucoop”. We recommend buying the ticket and paying in advance. Credit card payment options are available right outside the arrivals lobby of the international airport. Rates are standardized, and the taxi service offers bilingual drivers and receptionists.
UBER
You can connect to GRU Airport Wifi and call an Uber. All the terminals have an Uber meeting point: in terminal 1, it is located at the main exit and at terminals 2 and 3, they are on the boarding floor. Never accept offers from people saying they are Uber drivers (always see the app to check the driver’s information)!
VISA
For citizens from countries that have a bilateral agreement with Brazil, there is a possibility that you will not need a visa – depending on the agreement, it may be possible to stay in Brazil for up to 90 days without a visa. The entry stamp granted by the Federal Police is enough. Nonetheless, for other countries, a visa is mandatory. You can check this information in the “Entry to Brazil” document here.
To apply for a visa, foreign citizens must present the following documents:
- Visa Application Form duly completed. Read all instructions on this page carefully (colocar o endereço). Click on the “Vistos” button. Click on the “Start New Application” button at the bottom of the page. At the end of filling, print the delivery receipt and prepare the documentation to present at a Brazilian Consular Post.
- Valid travel document.
- Proof of payment of consular fees.
- International Immunization Certificate – when required.
- And other documents specific to the type of visa requested.
E-consular System (click here):
Each Consular Office has its own work routine. Consult the Brazilian Consulate where your request will be processed for details of payment and services offered.
